Heels Announce Return of Goaltender Jared Paul

Graduate Goalie to Make First Start Since 2004-05

Jared Paul, a graduate student in chemistry, has decided to return to the University of North Carolina lineup.  Paul, a native of Buffalo, New York, previously backstopped the Tar Heels for four seasons, from 2001-02 to 2004-05.  Paul then proceeded to take a one-plus season hiatus, but has remained an active part of the Heels' program, regularly attending practices and working with goaltender-turned-defenseman Ryan Gaus and current goaltender Sean Johnson, who is a graduate student in philosophy.  Combining with Johnson, the two will be a strong goaltending tandem and provide North Carolina with much-needed depth in net, which the Heels hope will translate into notches in the wins column as they make a strong push to qualify for this year's NCRHA National Championships.  When asked why he decided to return to the team, Paul stated, "I just really missed the college-level competition, and I hope I can be an asset to the team."  Paul will likely make his first start of the season this weekend in Columbia, SC, against DII opponent Georgia Tech.
